Chrome & Firefox Browsers Recommended

852015, we recommend chrome and firefox, blog

At LabStar the past few years we've optimized our software for 3 principal browsers:  Chrome, Firefox, & Internet Explorer.  We included Chrome & Firefox since they are "cross-platform" and work on both PC and Mac.  Internet Explorer (IE) was included because until recently its global browser share was very high.  All three browsers usually matched basic features/presentation, such as adoption of HTML5, so building and maintaining compatible software for all three was manageable.  We do not optimize for Safari because of low overall market share, the fact that Chrome & Firefox perform very well with the Mac OS, and Apple's habit of building applications that don't always play well with non-Mac applications.  It should be noted, however, that we do basic quality control on Safari workflows and its presentation layer.

In the last couple years Internet Explorer has, in small ways, began to diverge from the standard.  This has made it harder to maintain current features and build new ones for IE.  It appears this was a deliberate decision on the part of Microsoft since they wanted to "start new" with a better browser that could compete with Chrome & Firefox.  With Windows 10 they've released this new browser, called "Edge."  Our initial appraisal of Edge is positive.  But since it's so new and they're still working out the kinks, we're currently not encouraging users to switch to Edge.

Therefore, we recommend that in the near future LabStar users should use either Chrome or Firefox.  If you have any questions about this, please let us know at support@labstar.com or contact us through the chat box on the bottom right of this screen.

Thanks,

The LabStar Team
